Paul Robinson expecting big things from one Everton man

Carlo Ancelotti’s arrival as Everton manager will have excited plenty of people on the blue half of Merseyside, not least the Toffees players themselves.

The chance to work with a coach as established and laden with trophies as Ancelotti probably isn’t something they expected to experience at Goodison Park.

However, he’s here now, and it’s expected that he will have a big impact on the Everton players moving forward.

Indeed, former England international Paul Robinson believes the Italian’s arrival will result in a big improvement from goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

“I think he has matured, he’s still learning, time is on his side,” he told Football Insider. “I rate him as a goalkeeper, he is an excellent shot-stopper.

“For want of a better phrase, due to his eccentricities and excitement, he used to get too involved in games, too wound-up, but as he’s growing, he is learning.

“He is becoming a lot more steady, lot more reliable and I do rate him as a goalkeeper. And I still think that he is able to get better and there’s more to come.”

It’s not always been straightforward for the England number one at Everton, but he has been the undisputed first choice once again this season, starting every single game they’ve played so far this term.

In other Everton news, the Toffees faithful have been getting rather excited by an investment hint made by a Russian billionaire.
