Report: Three Premier League teams eye move for Everton star
Everton have been searching for a top class striker for some time now, ever since Romelu Lukaku left the club in 2017, really.
For a brief time between January and May 2018, the fans thought they’d found the big Belgian’s successor in Turkey forward Cenk Tosun.
The 28-year-old scored five times down the back end of the 2017-18 season for the Toffees but has hit the back of the net only five more times in the season and a half since.
It’s little surprise, then, that talk of his Goodison Park career coming to an end has gathered pace since the opening of the winter transfer window this month.
Turkish outlet Sporun Dibi reported on Friday evening that the former Besiktas man is weighing up his future as he wants regular football in order to make it to Euro 2020 with his country in the summer.
And three Premier League teams are thought to have entered the race to sign the Turk. Aston Villa, Crystal Palace and Newcastle United are the teams mentioned.
Tosun has rejected offers from Germany, adamant that he wants to continue his stay in English football.
The striker has started only two games this campaign, scoring once off the bench against Tottenham Hotspur in November.
In other Everton news, the Toffees are said to have registered their interested in a 20-year-old midfield starlet.
