Jamie Carragher delivers devastating verdict on Everton performance v Liverpool

Jamie Carragher, as a Liverpool legend, is no friend to Everton Football Club. You don’t expect many nice words from him about the Blues.

So when the Toffees’ first team fell to a desperate 1-0 defeat to what was essentially Liverpool’s reserve side in the FA Cup on Sunday, it didn’t take long for ‘Carra’ to weigh in.

To be fair, you can’t blame him for raving over the performances of some of the Reds’ youngsters and for slaughtering the display from Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

The Italian’s players roundly failed to perform at Anfield, as a decent first half effort was followed up by an abysmal showing after the break.

Carragher certainly wasn’t impressed by the Toffees.

Brilliant result & performance from @LFC,” he wrote on his personal Twitter account. “[Neco] Williams, [Harvey] Elliott, [Pedro] Chirivella & [Curtis] Jones superb!

“Told you about senior players starting!! Seen some bad Everton performances in Derby’s in the last 35 yrs that was the worst. #FACup.”

What can you say? Carragher’s absolutely right with this devastating verdict on Everton’s performance on Sunday.

Ancelotti’s team were shocking at Anfield. It’s starting to feel like there’s a bit of an inferiority complex with these players when they come up against their cross-city rivals.

It’s hard not to feel that way after the Toffees’ first team get beaten comfortably by Liverpool’s reserves.

If this dreadful display is any indication, the Everton boss has a lot of work to do moving forwards.

In other Everton news, the club’s supporters have torn into one player for his terrible effort against the Reds.
