Mills has say on future of Everton midfielder
The future of many of the Everton players has been left up in the air by their despicable performances against Liverpool last Sunday.
The Toffees – with a full strength team – were beaten 1-0 by the Reds’ kids at Anfield, exposing many of the players as not good enough for a club of this size.
One player who was most readily exposed was central midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin, who has been below par for a long time now.
Now, former England international Danny Mills has weighed in on the Frenchman’s future at Goodison Park.
“New manager, new ideas, new style of play – all these types of things. Morgan Schneiderlin’s been a very good player, you don’t go from Southampton to Manchester United if you’re not good,” he told Football Insider.
“Something’s gone wrong along the way, can Carlo Ancelotti turn that around? What does he see and what does Morgan Schneiderlin need right now to get him back on form?
“That’s why managers get changed, that’s why new managers, especially someone as vast as Carlo Ancelotti – he’s already said himself, he’s the guy that comes in, the likeable guy, the guy players like.
“I don’t think he’ll make his mind up until the end of the window.”

Yes, new managers come in and make their own minds up about players. And, yes, it’s not inconceivable that Ancelotti will be able to get more out of Schneiderlin than what we’ve seen thus far in a blue shirt.
However, his wretched performance last time out would suggest not. This simply isn’t the same peak Schneiderlin we saw during his Southampton years.
He’s 30 years of age now, and so there won’t be many more chances for the Toffees to get a decent transfer fee for him. They need to act now and move the struggling midfielder on as soon as possible.
In other Everton news, the club have been linked with an ambitious swoop for a striker with 21 goals in 21 games this season.
