Goodison View: Everton must go in all guns blazing for reported top-class transfer target

We all know about the struggles Everton have had in finding a top class centre forward since the departure of Romelu Lukaku in 2017.

The Belgian’s Manchester United switch left a giant hole on Merseyside that has yet to truly be filled, despite the potential of youngsters Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Moise Kean.

What those two need is a top-class frontman to learn from and to take the goalscoring burden off them.

With that in mind, the Toffees must go in all guns blazing for Lazio striker Ciro Immobile. Italian outlet Tutto Mercato reported earlier this week that Carlo Ancelotti is ready to make a big offer for the 29-year-old.

Now, this would be a short-term solution for the Blues, make no mistake about that. Immobile will be 30 years of age in February.

But that’s why it would be perfect. Calvert-Lewin and Kean are both a couple of years away from truly fulfilling their potential as regular goalscorers. In the meantime, Immobile could come in, give you 20 goals a season and serve as the ideal mentor to the young duo.

His form this campaign has been nothing short of sensational, so he’s clearly still got plenty in the tank.

The Italy international has scored a phenomenal 21 goals in the same number of games, averaging a huge 4.1 shots and 1.6 key passes per outing.

Lazio would, understandably, be reluctant to part with their star man. However, the Toffees have wasted so much money in recent years, what’s £30million or so on a sure thing?

Ancelotti would obviously be keen, while the supporters would surely love it. What’s not to like?

In other Everton news, the club are said to be monitoring an in-demand Bologna winger.
