Report: European side make contact over Everton ace

The saga of Everton striker Cenk Tosun has been an up-and-down one, and it appears that there are still some twists and turns ahead.

Brought in for big money from Turkish heavy-hitters Besiktas, the 28-year-old was once viewed as Romelu Lukaku’s successor in the Toffees attack.

However, his stock has fallen dramatically since then, and he’s is now expected to be on his way out of Goodison Park this month.

Indeed, Turkish outlet Ortacizgi reported on Thursday that his former club made contact with the Toffees over potentially resigning him.

Tosun’s was said to be the number one name on the Istanbul side’s lips heading into the winter transfer market.

However, they were told that the striker would be staying in England, with a loan switch to either Crystal Palace or Aston Villa most likely.

It’s interesting that the Blues turned Besiktas down when they are seemingly ready to moving Tosun on. You would’ve thought that they’d be open to any approaches.

Perhaps, then, there is still some faint hope that the Turkish international could come good in English football.

A loan to Palace or Villa would allow him to demonstrate that he can cut it in the Premier League, giving Everton the option of whether to keep him or make some money off him come the summer.

In other Everton news, a young academy product is expected to be given a chance against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday.
