Report: Everton feel star man is worth £50m+

Amid what’s been a largely dispiriting season for Everton, one man has emerged as a genuine bright spot amid the gloom.

Yes, young striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin has really taken a step forward this campaign, and is now beginning to fulfil his potential as a goalscorer.

Indeed, his strike in the 1-1 draw with West Ham United on Saturday made it 11 goals all told for the 22-year-old this term.

However, as his form improves so will interest in him. With that said, Football Insider reported on Saturday that the Toffees now believe his value has gone beyond £50million.

Still, the club are said to have no intention of letting the Englishman depart in the summer, no matter what interest he attracts at home and abroad.

The Merseyside outfit previously regarded Calvert-Lewin as a £20-30million player, but his fantastic recent form has seen that skyrocket.

Is Calvert-Lewin really worth this much?

In today’s market? Yeah, sure. You don’t have to be an elite, elite player to be worth £50million+ these days, we all know that.

Calvert-Lewin isn’t an elite player, but he is a very good young player with shedloads of potential. Given his youth and his current run of form, he probably could command this sort of fee.

Still, it seems that the Toffees have no interest in selling him anyway – although that doesn’t really square with them slapping a big-money value on him.

In other Everton news, one regular starter looked back to his best against the Hammers after a shaky run of form.
