Report: Everton ready to make loan move for German international
The pursuit of top class talent that was expected to take place at Everton after Carlo Ancelotti’s arrival has yet to come to fruition this month.
However, there have been plenty of rumbles of big-name players coming to Goodison Park since the Italian’s arrival.
Most of those names have been Serie A-based, which isn’t surprising, and indeed one of the most enduring rumours comes from the peninsula.
Italian outlet Tuttosport reported on Wednesday that the Toffees are one of two Premier League teams ready to do a loan deal for Juventus midfielder Emre Can.
The other side is Manchester United, which is surprising – as it is for Everton – considering that the German international is a former Liverpool player.
Juve are ready to part with the 26-year-old, but only for between £25-£33million. However, he could be loaned to help aid his Euro 2020 hopes.
German giants Borussia Dortmund are also prepared to sanction a loan swoop for the midfielder, who is keen to leave Turin this month.
Would a loan deal be good for the Blues?
Perhaps, yes, as long as an option to buy was included in the deal. If you’re Everton, and you’re taking the risk of getting a former Liverpool player, you need to go all in, not just loan him for a few months.
Can is a quality player, despite his connections with the red side of Merseyside. Plus, he’s still got many good years ahead of him.
His time in Turin is obviously up, but if you’re him why wouldn’t you just move to Dortmund instead? Surely that would be much less hassle than a switch to Everton or United?
In other Everton news, one of the team’s most disappointing players this season burst into life against Newcastle United on Tuesday.
