Ratcliffe weighs in on update on crocked Everton star
There’s no doubt that Everton have missed central midfielder Andre Gomes immensely since his shocking injury occurred in early November.
The former Barcelona man is a calming influence in the middle of the park, while his passing ability allows him to control the pace and tenor of a game. It’s safe to say that that’s not the case for people like Gylfi Sigurdsson and Fabian Delph.
The Portugal international is, quite simply, a cut above the other central midfielders at Goodison Park.
So the sight of him back in first team training for the first time on Tuesday was a sight for sore eyes on the blue half of Merseyside.
It’s certainly something that proved very pleasing for Toffees legend Kevin Ratcliffe, who weighed in.
“Much missed,” he wrote on his personal Twitter account in reply to photos of Gomes back in training.
How much have the Blues missed Gomes?
Very much so, there’s no doubt about that. The Portuguese star has been terrific ever since he joined the club, and so to be without him for the last few months has been devastating.
The progress he has made since the initial incident has been astonishing. It was feared that he’d miss the rest of the season, whereas he’s seemingly closing in on a return as we speak.
His comeback will provide manager Carlo Ancelotti with a big boost, because he’s got no-one of this quality in the middle of the park at the moment.
In other Everton news, the club have reportedly received enquires for two out of favour Toffees.
