‘Get him off’ – These Everton fans hammer one player v Watford
Theo Walcott’s time at Everton hasn’t been anywhere near as fulfilling as the club’s supporters hoped it would be when he arrived from Arsenal.
The England international is a talented player with good pace and vast experience, but he’s been unable to find any consistency at Goodison Park.
That continued – for the most part – on Saturday in the Toffees’ 3-2 win over Watford at Vicarage Road. The 30-year-old put in yet another sub-standard performance.
It was Walcott who was partly at fault for Adam Masina’s goal, failing to track his run and allowing the Hornet to race in and convert at the back post. However, he later made amends – and then some – with the late, late winner.
That lack of defensive awareness, though, has been a staple of Walcott’s time on Merseyside, and it’s disappointing that he’s made no effort to improve that part of his game.
He’s part of of this horribly bloated Everton squad which boasts plenty of talented but inconsistent players on huge wages.
That’s something manager Carlo Ancelotti will have to wrestle with in the years to come, but Walcott’s certainly doing him no favours at the moment.
The Toffees supporters definitely weren’t impressed by what the winger offered up against the Hornets, one urging Ancelotti to ‘get him off’.
