Report: Everton star weighing up offers from abroad
Much of the transfer business at Everton last month appeared to be predicated on getting unwanted players off the wage bill.
However, in that they very much failed. Striker Oumar Niasse is still hanging around, as is defender Cuco Martina.
The European transfer window slammed shut on Friday night, of course, but there is still time to do some deals from some of the other countries that are still open for business.
Indeed, the Liverpool Echo reported on Saturday that the Curacao captain is weighing up offers from abroad.
The 30-year-old has failed to make a first team appearance for the Toffees so far this season, only making the match-day squad twice.
Meanwhile, Carlo Ancelotti’s side are thought to have received approaches for Niasse, but nothing has suited both parties so far.
Could Martina still leave the Blues?
It feels unlikely, but you never know. Transfer windows in odd countries like Portugal, Russia and China are still open, while the MLS one begins this month.
You could see Martina playing in America, while a switch to China would obviously be financially beneficial to him.
Still, you wonder whether anyone would want him enough to come in with earnest. He’s received offers apparently, so hopefully he does decide to depart.
In other Everton news, a former England international feels that a Toffees first team star wanted to leave the club last month.
