‘You god’ – These Everton fans gush over one player v Watford
Everton defender Yerry Mina isn’t typically who you’d think when asked who the Toffees’ hero is, but he undoubtedly served that role on Saturday.
The big Colombian somehow scored twice in the Blues’ 3-2 win over Watford at Vicarage Road, hauling his team back into the game single-handed.
The performance from Carlo Ancelotti’s side was really lacklustre in the first half, particularly, but Mina served as the catalyst for a revival.
His size makes him a threat from set pieces at all times, and the Hornets simply couldn’t handle him.
The 25-year-old wasn’t perfect on Saturday, and he struggled in the physical battle with Troy Deeney at times, but overall he was the main man for the Toffees.
Hopefully he can continue the improved form he’s shown in his second season at Goodison and continue his fine partnership with Mason Holgate at the heart of the Blues’ defence.
The club’s supporters definitely appreciated what he offered up against Nigel Pearson’s side, with one calling him a ‘god’.
