Simon Jordan raves over Everton star after performance v Crystal Palace
Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin continued his rich vein of form against Crystal Palace on Saturday, producing another terrific display.
The 22-year-old has clearly found his feet this season, benefitting hugely from working with both Duncan Ferguson and Carlo Ancelotti.
He scored once again against the Eagles, converting in the Toffees’ 3-1 victory, making it 13 for the campaign thus far.
The fact that he has maintained his fantastic all-round game while sharpening his goalscoring instincts will be the most pleasing thing for Ancelotti.
Former Palace owner turned football pundit Simon Jordan was reluctantly impressed by what the Englishman offered against his team.
“He’s a very good player who’s coming alive now, and came alive under Duncan Ferguson and is now coming alive under Ancelotti, and is maybe making a case for him getting towards the England squad; which is Dominic Calvert-Lewin,” he said on talkSPORT.
“I think he’s a very talented player, but previous to that his goals-to-game ratio was a mile off. He scored again – as much as I don’t like the fact he scored against my mob – he scored again.”
How vital has Calvert-Lewin become to Everton?
He is absolutely crucial. He is the centre forward the team have been searching for since selling Romelu Lukaku.
It didn’t always seem like that was going to be the case, but so it has proved. The youngster is a really quality striker now.
He’s got eight goals in his last 11 Premier League games, and is a man in real form. Certainly he’s knocking on the door of Gareth Southgate’s squad.
Calvert-Lewin has sharpened up his game and is really benefiting from the twin influences of Ancelotti and Ferguson.
In other Everton news, a different talkSPORT pundit has claimed that the club have the ‘perfect formula’ at the moment.
