‘Hat trick against Arsenal – These Everton fans react to Toffee’s tweet

Everton have missed cultured central midfielder Andre Gomes massively over the past few months, but he is now firmly on his way back to full fitness.

The 26-year-old has been training with the first team for a while now, while he completed the full 60 minutes of a practice match behind-closed-doors last Sunday.

That was a massive step in his recovery, and one that shouldn’t be underestimated. Suddenly, he’s in contention to face Arsenal on Sunday.

Having the Portugal international back will be a big boost for manager Carlo Ancelotti. The Italian has yet to properly work with the midfielder.

Gomes, though, is a proper Ancelotti player. He has the class and the technical ability that the former Napoli boss adores.

It seems unlikely that he’ll be thrown straight back into the fray against the Gunners, at least not from the start.

We may see him on the substitute’s bench, and he might not get off the bench, but he will likely make the match day squad at least.

That’s something that the Toffees supporters can’t wait to see, make no mistake about that.

The midfielder got them all talking with a post on his personal Twitter account on Monday that read: ‘Looking ahead because good things are coming!’. One even optimistically predicted that the Portuguese will grab a ‘hat trick’ on Sunday.
