‘Something special’ – These Everton fans gush over one player v Arsenal

This season has been a revelatory one for Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who has emerged as a dependable star of this Toffees team.

The 22-year-old has maintained his top class work rate and all-round play, but has sharpened up his instincts in front of goal.

That was and wasn’t in evidence in the Blues’ 3-2 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

He opened the scoring with a terrific acrobatic finish in under a minute, reacting first to the Gunners’ failure to clear a set-piece.

However, he also missed a couple of gilt-edged chances to rescue a point during the second half.

He’s a young player, of course, so it’s understandable that there is still some room for improvement in his game.

But it’s frustrating when he has bagged 14 goals this campaign that he was unable to convert any of the other opportunities he had.

Still, he produced an exciting and threatening performance on the balance of play, with one supporter labelling him ‘something special’.
