Report – Everton plot raid for £30m-rated talent from PL giants
Everton are interested in making a move for Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard, according to Metro.
The 27-year-old is understood to be a target for a number of clubs, including the Toffees, after having made just nine starts in the Premier League this season.
Alongside the Blues, Arsenal are also touted as a potential destination for the player.
The report suggests that United would look to sell Lingard for around £30 million with view to then using the money in an effort to land Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund.
It is also claimed, however, that Lingard would much rather stay at his boyhood club in an effort to fight for a regular starting role under manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Would this be a good move for Everton?
Honestly, we can do better than this.
No offence to Lingard, who has shown in the past that he has got flashes of quality in him, but the reality of the situation is that he is far too inconsistent to be a sustained threat for a side aiming for the upper echelons of the Premier League table.
Two goals and two assists in 35 appearances across all competitions this season is a pretty abysmal record, and is only made worse when you consider the fact that none of them have come in league football.
With a shot accuracy of just 25.9%, as well as a dribble success rate of just over 40%, as per Wyscout, it’s not too hard to see where the flaws in Lingard’s game lie, and for £30 million, you would surely be hoping to land a player with a lot more end product to his game.
