Everton star Lucas Digne makes bold 20/21 prediction under Ancelotti

Lucas Digne has claimed that he believes Everton can qualify for European football under Carlo Ancelotti next season.

The Toffees are currently 12th in the Premier League table – six points off a European spot – following a shaky start to the campaign under Marco Silva,

But they have looked much improved since Ancelotti took over in December, and Digne has his sights set on a high finish next term.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: “He [Ancelotti] has big experience, he’s won three Champions Leagues.

“He’s very relaxed and very close to the players. I think he can give a lot to us.

“We are building a very good project and we can do something very special and very good. I think we can do better than the last year and maybe finish in Europe this year.

“In a few years we have invested a lot on a lot of players and it is the project, we have to finish in the top four, the top five and to play the Champions League.”

Is a European spot a realistic target for next season?

Absolutely, yes.

You could argue that the Toffees should have been there or thereabouts for the past couple of campaigns anyway.

But now, with Ancelotti at the helm, it has to be a realistic ambition.

As Digne says, this is a man who has won it all, and has already vastly improved the Toffees.

The Italian has average 1.5 points per game on Merseyside so far.

If he can replicate that next season, it would give him a total tally of 57 points – the exact total Wolves recorded last term to qualify for the Europa League.

European football is very, very doable.
