Report: Chelsea set sights on Everton mainstay as Lampard grows restless

Chelsea have set their sights on signing Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford in the summer, according to Tutto Mercato Web.

The Italian outlet have reported on their website that the Blues are looking to offload Kepa Arrizabalaga, who could move to La Liga club Valencia.

Tutto Mercato Web claim that Pickford has the perfect profile for what Frank Lampard wants to replace the Spaniard, and he is ahead of other targets at Stamford Bridge.

The Express has reported on Friday that Lampard has become tired of Kepa’s ability to drop between the ‘sublime and the ridiculous’ in games.

Lampard is suggested to want more consistency in between the sticks and has identified Pickford as the man to give him just that.

Everton are reported to be unwilling to let Pickford leave Goodison Park, but they do understand that Chelsea are ready to offload players in order to bring in their preferred targets in the summer after signing both Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech.

There is no doubting that Carlo Ancelotti will want the England international to stay at Goodison for next season, with the Italian mounting a surge for European football.

Everton only have Marten Stekelenburg as a senior option in goal behind Pickford, with the next option academy stopper Joao Virginia.

It took a record fee for a British keeper to bring Pickford to Merseyside from Sunderland, and that was seen as a long-term purchase, something Ancelotti will be keen to make sure is continued past this season.
