Carlo Ancelotti makes bold claim on Everton trio when discussing players’ futures
Carlo Ancelotti has claimed that Everton trio Seamus Coleman, Leighton Baines and Gylfi Sigurdsson all have the potential to become managers.
The Italian picked out those three Toffees due to their strong understanding of football and tactics in-and-around Goodison Park.
Baines has signed a new deal in Merseyside recently and is coming towards the end of his legendary career quickly.
Ancelotti picked the Toffees trio claiming that he is always looking for players in his squad that can make that next step in their careers.
“Leighton Baines and Seamus Coleman have all the qualities to be good managers, Sigurdsson could also be a good manager,” he told evertonfc.com.
“They all have strong football knowledge and good tactical understanding. They have the experience you need to manage a team.
“Character, also. They are different characters but all three can be managers – if they want to. The tactical knowledge comes from playing a lot of football and learning from experience and different people.
“They have the attitude and professionalism which are important qualities to be a good manager.”
It will be Baines who will be given the chance to choose his next career path sooner rather than later.
The 35-year-old has agreed to an extension on his contract until the end of this season but there has been some concerns over his future past that.
Everton want Baines to remain at the club for another season, but the veteran defender has yet to commit to the club he has been at for the majority of his career [Liverpool Echo].
If Baines doesn’t sign that deal to play on for another year, we could see him line up next season as a coach under Ancelotti at Goodison Park.
