Referee confirmed for Everton clash v Bournemouth, has history with Carlo Ancelotti
Everton welcome Bournemouth to Goodison Park on Sunday knowing that they could seal the Cherries’ fate in the relegation race to survive.
Eddie Howe’s men are currently in the bottom three and will need a win to atleast give themselves a chance of survival.
The Toffees come into the game on the back of an impressive 1-0 win at Brammall Lane against Sheffield United last time out.
The Liverpool Echo have confirmed that Chris Kavanagh will take charge of the clash at Goodison Park on Sunday.
Kavanagh has history with Carlo Ancelotti already this season, sending the Italian off in the 1-1 draw against Manchester United back in March.
Ancelotti was enraged after Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s supposed winner was disallowed after Gylfi Sigurdsson was adjudged to have been offside.
The Everton boss was given his marching orders, although he definitely had a point with the decision seeming soft at the time.
After the incident, Ancelotti claimed he approached the referee to discuss the incident and was instead shown a red card after receiving no explanation for the disallowed goal.
Everton can’t finish higher than 11th, but they will want to end the season with a bang so that they can look forward to the next campaign and performing better.
European football will be on the agenda at Goodison Park, and performances against the likes of Liverpool after the break will give them confidence that they can achieve just that.
In other Everton news, this Toffees trio have been denied access to the training ground during COVID-19 testing
