Everton set to rival Liverpool & Leicester for defender after £12million enquiry – report
Everton are set to rival Liverpool and Leicester for Olympiakos defender Kostas Tsimikas, according to the Daily Mail.
The newspaper have reported on their website that all three clubs have enquired about the Greek international, with Chelsea also interested.
Tsimikas impressed against Wolves recently in the Europa League and will cost up £12million, with the Greek club lining up replacements already.
It is suggested in the report that Liverpool are looking for cover for Andy Robertson, whereas Leicester could be searching for Ben Chilwell’s replacement.
Those two clubs could have a bigger need to bring in the left-back then, with Everton already having Lucas Digne at Goodison Park impressing weekly.
With Leighton Baines retiring though, Tsimikas could provide excellent cover for Carlo Ancelotti at a relatively cheap price.
Marcel Brands is looking for defenders and right-sided wingers over the summer and has not had any luck so far.
The director of football has grown frustrated over the transfer leaks to the press regarding potential moves for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Gabriel Magalhaes.
It’s happened again, and by the looks of it, Brands will need to act quickly to beat a number of their Premier League rivals to Tsimikas.
The 24-year-old has enjoyed a quality season, completing 4.9 interceptions per 90 minutes according to WyScout – as well as over two progressive runs in possession, great stats from the defender.
