‘More still remain’ – Everton defender squashes rumours of exit after switching agents
Everton defender Yerry Mina has squashed rumours claiming that he could leave Goodison Park this summer.
The Colombian recently switched agents, and rumours started to appear that it was in an effort to leave Merseyside, two years after moving from Barcelona.
Mina hardly featured after the enforced lockdown in the Premier League, struggling with a number of different injuries.
Everton were described as being comfortable with his decision to changes agents, but Mina felt the need to address the matter anyway.
“Today it’s been two years since I came to Everton, a city and a fandom that very well received me and my family,” he said, via the Liverpool Echo.
“I’ve had very good moments with the club, but many more still remain. This team, for historical and traditional reasons, deserves to be at the top and we will fight to do so.
“We’ll go for more, always accompanied by the grace of God.”
Carlo Ancelotti will have a big decision to make in his defence next season. Jarrad Branthwaite broke through last month and joined the likes of Mason Holgate, Michael Keane and Mina in the heart of the defence.
To add to that scramble of names, Everton are also pushing hard to sign Lille defender Gabriel Magalhaes. ESPN has reported that the Toffees are to fight hard to persuade the Brazilian to pick them over Manchester United.
With Mina set to stay, the South American will need to fight hard to keep his spot in the starting XI next season.
