Everton prepare ‘shock’ move for recently-relegated goalkeeper, Chelsea also keen – report

Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has once again not covered himself in glory in the past year in the Premier League.

The England international made numerous mistakes and will be thankful that he hasn’t had any real competition at Goodison Park.

Reports emerged recently claiming that Carlo Ancelotti was running out of patience with the 26-year-old and could show him the exit door this summer [Daily Star].

So, who could Everton bring in to replace Pickford? Or will they simply be looking to add more competition?

The Sun has reported on their website that the Toffees are plotting a “shock” move for recently-relegated Watford keeper Ben Foster.

According to the report, the 37-year-old Premier League veteran is also being considered by Chelsea as he remains one of the most wanted keepers in England.

The newspaper suggested that Ancelotti would see Foster as competition for Pickford, and is currently at the top of their shortlist.

It is no surprise that Ancelotti wants more competition at Goodison Park.

Marten Stekelenburg never offered serious competition while he was in Merseyside, and has since left the club to join Ajax this summer.

Pickford may feel hard done by all this criticism, but the truth is, he hasn’t helped himself one bit with the mistakes and on-field antics.

Foster may have been relegated last season, but he has established himself as one of the best the Premier League has ever seen.

The 37-year-old wouldn’t be coming just to glide to the end of his career either and would give Pickford and Everton exactly what they need.
