Sky Sports journalist: Everton back in talks with South American midfielder
Carlo Ancelotti is strongly looking to add a midfielder to his Everton squad before the start of the Premier League season.
A number of names have been thrown into the mix recently, with Celtic midfielder Olivier Ntcham reportedly on the shortlist.
Some midfielders could still leave too, with Tom Davies the subject of a possible £12million offer from Newcastle [Daily Mail].
The links continue to appear though, and Sky Sports Italy journalist Fabrizio Romano has shared an update on the Toffees plans.
The reliable journalist has claimed that both Allan of Napoli and Watford’s Abdoulaye Doucoure are on the shortlist.
“Everton are back in talks with Napoli to sign Allan,” he wrote on his personal Twitter account.
“Also, Abdoulaye Doucouré (Watford) is on the list. Ancelotti strongly wants a new midfielder.”
Recent reports from the Mirror have suggested that the Toffees were set to revisit their interest in Doucoure after Watford were relegated.
The Hornets being in the Championship means that the Frenchman is now likely to cost less than the £40million that was rejected previously.
Allan appears to be the one player that Everton desperately want though after opening talks with Napoli.
Ancelotti will have worked with the South American during his time with the Italian club and will know how to get the best out of him.
The 29-year-old was superb in the Champions League last season in his six appearances, making an incredible 3.8 tackles per game according to WhoScored.
Everton are missing that strength in their spine, and Allan could be the perfect addition this summer.
