Medical complete: Three-year deal set as Everton close in on James Rodriguez

Everton are finally set to announce the first of three new midfielders on Friday.

With Watford’s Abdoulaye Doucoure and Napoli’s Allan also expected to move to Goodison Park, Carlo Ancelotti wanted one more.

That man is James Rodriguez, with everything agreed with Real Madrid for his signature over this weekend.

The Athletic journalist Patrick Boyland shared on his personal Twitter account that the Colombian completed his medical on Thursday.

It is suggested in the report that Rodriguez is expected to sign a three-year contract in Merseyside as he reunites with Ancelotti once more.

According to Boyland, it was widely reported that the Italian brought the best out of the playmaker during their time together at Real Madrid and that is exactly what Everton fans will be hoping for next season.

Farhad Moshiri has been craving a marquee signing for some time during his time in charge of the Toffees, and this could be the first of three this week.

Rodriguez arrives on the back of one of his worst seasons yet at Real Madrid.

Despite the Spanish side winning La Liga, it was widely without the South American as Zinedine Zidane went down a different route.

The 29-year-old only made eight appearances in the league, with only five of those being starts under Zidane – they were joined by five outings in cup competitions.

In those appearances, he only managed one goal and one assist and Everton fans will be crossing their fingers that Ancelotti, can once again, get the best out of him.
