‘Very impressive’ – Michael Owen predicts Everton clash v West Brom

Michael Owen has backed Everton to pick up another three points when they welcome West Brom to Goodison Park on Saturday.

The former Liverpool striker has predicted the Toffees will pick up another clean-sheet in a comfortable 2-0 victory in Merseyside.

Carlo Ancelotti will be delighted with his side’s start to the season, backing up the win against Spurs with the thrashing of Salford in the Carabao Cup.

Owen was in awe of Everton’s new midfield three against Spurs and believes they will have a massive say on the result against the Baggies.

“Everton started their Premier League campaign with a tricky away match against Spurs but came through that particular test with flying colours. Their new-look midfield was very impressive and they fully deserved their 1-0 victory,” he wrote for Bet Victor.

“I like what I saw from Everton in their first match and I think their impressive midfield, along with the Baggies’ lack of goals is likely to lead to a comfortable 2-0 home win for the Toffees.”

James Rodriguez was particularly impressive against Spurs and should get even more time against the newly-promoted Baggies.

The Colombian controlled the game from the first whistle, having three shots on goal and completing five key passes according to WhoScored.

Ancelotti has always got the best out of the 29-year-old, and if his debut was anything to go by, we could see him pick up plenty of goal involvements this season – starting against the Baggies this weekend.
