Carlo Ancelotti shares crucial double Everton injury update on midfield duo
Carlo Ancelotti has delivered a positive double injury update on Everton duo Fabian Delph and Jean-Phillipe Gbamin.
The Toffees boss has shared that Delph will be back for the third-round Carabao Cup clash against Fleetwood Town.
Gbamin, on the other hand, is set to return between October and November, with the Ivorian currently completing his own individual programme.
Ancelotti admitted that Delph could have played against West Brom, but that he won’t risk him and will give the midfielder a chance in the Carabao Cup instead.
“Delph is ok, he had the problem during pre-season but he is already has trained for one week with the team normally,” he told the Liverpool Echo.
“He could be ready for the game tomorrow but I prefer to give him more training sessions to be ready for the game on Wednesday.
Ancelotti also shared an update on Gbamin, claiming it may be another four weeks before the Ivorian is ready to return.
“Gbamin is doing his own individual programme to recover, and I think he will be ready around October-November.”
Last season, both Delph and Gbamin being ruled out would have been a real problem for the Toffees due to their lack of depth.
The summer signings of Allan, Abdoulaye Doucoure and James Rodriguez has seen that issue evaporate and changed the injured duo into rotation options.
Allan was superb against Tottenham, and the Brazilian has made sure that Delph and Gbamin will only be on the bench when they return to Premier League action.
