‘Absolutely flying’ – Mark Lawrenson predicts Everton clash v Brighton

Mark Lawrenson has backed Everton to continue their 100% record in the Premier League on Saturday when they face Brighton.

The BBC pundit has predicted that the Toffees will win 2-0 at Goodison Park, with Carlo Ancelotti having transformed his side over the summer.

Lawrenson has been particularly impressed with Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who has been rewarded with an England call-up on Thursday.

Writing in his BBC Sport predictions column, Lawrenson heaped praise on Brighton but backed them to fall short.

“Brighton were so unlucky to somehow lose against Manchester United in their last league game. If they keep playing like that, they will finish in the top 10,” he wrote.

“The Seagulls look potent going forward, which is one of the ways they have improved, but no-one will want to play Everton at the moment. Toffees striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin is absolutely flying and cannot stop scoring.”

Everton are really on fire right now, and confidence will be flowing after the 4-1 thrashing of West Ham in the cup on Wednesday.

Brighton, on the other hand, were easily swept aside 3-0 by Manchester United, and have only won one of their games this season so far.

Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison are on fire at this moment in time, and with James Rodriguez in-behind that duo, Brighton could be in for a long afternoon on Saturday.

The Seagulls are shipping goals frequently, and that could be something that will get Ancelotti’s frontmen licking their lips ahead of this one – it could be another goal-fest.
