Ancelotti makes contact with potential Everton target – report

Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti has made contact with Napoli midfielder Fabian Ruiz as he wants to reunite with another one of his former players, according to foreign outlet Todofichajes.

Ancelotti has already revisited former club Napoli to strengthen the Toffees as he brought in Brazilian midfielder Allan in the summer.

It seems that the Italian is keen to steal another one of Napoli’s players away as he eyes a deal for 24-year-old Ruiz.

Todofichajes’ report states that Ancelotti telephoned Ruiz regarding the move and the Spaniard’s response has ‘not been negative’.

The report claims that Ruiz hasn’t been offered a suitable contract by his current club and that Everton is his ‘most likely’ destination at the moment as the Toffees can give him a wage rise.

Ancelotti has already overhauled the Toffees midfield since his arrival as he signed James Rodriguez and Abdoulaye Doucoure as well as Allan in the summer.

Rodriguez has found more joy playing on the right of an attacking three instead of in the midfield which may have convinced the Everton boss that he needs another midfielder on his books.

If Ruiz wants to move on from Napoli there can’t be many clubs who present a better option than Everton at the moment.

He would be reuniting with a former teammate and manager and a club that look to be ready to try and establish themselves as a top English club.

Earlier this week, Allan stated how he was convinced to join Everton by ‘the project‘ that was sold to him which included the club’s new Bramley-Moore Dock stadium.

This project could help Ruiz choose Everton as his new club if he does indeed leave Italy as it looks like the new stadium is already paying dividends.
