Everton ace Richarlison claims Cavani could have broken his ankle in Brazil v Uruguay

Everton forward Richarlison has shared an update after he had to be substituted off in Brazil’s game against Uruguay as he was scythed down by Edinson Cavani.

Cavani was sent off following a VAR check after he made a poor challenge on the Everton man, catching Richarlison’s shin with his studs.

The 23-year-old has missed the Toffees’ last three games through suspension and Carlo Ancelotti will be hoping one of his key men isn’t sidelined further through injury.

After the game, Richarlison is quoted by Selecao as saying: “I think it was a ball dispute, he went over the top, if my foot was stuck I might have broken my ankle, but I think it was not in badness, he tried to steal the ball and ended up missing the boat.”

Hopefully, Richarlison will be ok to play against Fulham this weekend but it is never good news when a player suffers a knock that means they are unable to continue.

The Toffees are yet to win a Premier League game without the brazil star since he signed for the club in 2018.

That record has continued in Richarlison’s absence with Ancelotti’s side losing all three league games he has missed after picking up a red card in the Merseyside derby.

Due to that recent record, the Fulham game is looking like a must-win game for Everton if they don’t want to be left behind by their rivals.

Richarlison has one goal and two assists in five Premier League games this season and his side looks much weaker offensively when he is unavailable despite still having Dominic Calvert-Lewin and James Rodriguez in the squad.

Everyone associated with Everton will be hoping for positive news about Richarlison’s knock in the coming days as it seems the Toffees can’t afford to have him missing this weekend.

In other Everton news, Carlo Ancelotti has made contact with a potential new signing according to a report.
