Exclusive: Kevin Campbell delivers verdict after Dan James-Everton link emerges
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Kevin Campbell doesn’t believe Daniel James is ‘the answer’ when it comes to replacing Richarlison at Everton.
Manchester United winger James was linked with a move to Goodison Park earlier this month with Football Insider reporting that the Toffees were ‘keeping tabs’ on the 23-year-old.
Campbell believes that replacing ‘world-class’ Richarlison is a tough task and declared that James isn’t anywhere near the level of the Brazilian.
Speaking to Goodison News, Campbell said, “Well, Richarlison is a world-class player and the likes of [Alex] Iwobi have found it difficult to replace him because he’s so good and so influential in the team.
“Bernard got a goal but he finds it difficult to replace him. Dan James is a player who is very quick. Is he the same level as Richarlison? Definitely not.

“It’s up to Carlo Ancelotti, I don’t think James is the answer myself but I might be surprised.”
James made an excellent start to his Manchester United career after joining the Red Devils in the summer of 2019.
The Welsh international scored three goals in his first four Premier League games but didn’t score again in the league for the rest of the season.
He has since fallen out of favour at Old Trafford with James only starting three of United’s eight Premier League games this season and he has failed to register a goal or assist.
The arrival of James at Goodison Park would be fairly underwhelming considering the recent transfers of Allan and James Rodriguez but there is no doubting James’ potential.
If Ancelotti can get him playing at the level he hit in the early stages of last season then he could be an asset to Everton, but that is a big if.
In other Everton news, Danny Murphy has hailed Alex Iwobi as he turned in a quality performance against Fulham last weekend.
