‘Would love to’ – Fabrizio Romano details Khedira interest in joining Everton

Journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Juventus midfielder Sami Khedira would ‘love’ to work with Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti again.

Khedira worked with the Everton manager while they were both at Real Madrid and we have already seen Ancelotti make moves for a few of his former players since he moved to Goodison Park.

When asked on Twitter if he had any transfer news about Everton, Romano didn’t suggest that there was anything concrete going on behind the scenes but he suggested Khedira is open to the move.

Romano said, “Khedira… would love to play again with Ancelloti”, this was followed up by the ‘eyes’ emoji which suggests that this transfer story could be worth keeping an eye on.

Ancelotti has already returned for former players James Rodriguez and Allan with the Italian also heavily linked with a move for another former player in Real Madrid’s Isco, according to Spanish news outlet Ok Diario.

With Everton signing two central midfielders in the summer in Allan and Abdoulaye Doucoure, is it really worth Ancelotti bringing another one to Goodison Park?

The German midfielder is yet to play for Juventus this season and at 33-years-old he is unlikely to be performing at the top level for much longer.

Last season only 63.5% of Khedira’s total actions were successful, according to Wyscout, with the midfielder only winning 49% of his duels.

The 33-year-old also only averaged an 83.4% pass completion rate last season which, for context, is less than the 88.6% pass completion rate that Allan has been averaging this season.

Khedira was a brilliant player in his day and he helped Real Madrid win a Champions League and La Liga title but his best days are long behind him and frankly, Everton can do better even if Khedira wants the move.

In other Everton news, we believe one Toffees player turned in their worst performance for the club in Saturday’s loss to Leeds.
