View: Michael Keane continues to shine for Everton with stellar outing v Burnley
Michael Keane continued his impressive form for Everton this season with a fine individual performance against Burnley last weekend.
The Toffees drew 1-1 at Turf Moor in what was a bitterly disappointing result for Carlo Ancelotti’s men but Keane’s performance was a major positive.
Keane has been in brilliant form this season and has even chipped in with two goals in his 11 Premier League appearances so far this term.
But Keane’s performance against Burnley was an improvement on the outstanding form he has hit this season and the stats prove it.
According to Wyscout, Keane won 100% of his defensive duels against the likes of Chris Wood – that stat stands alone as an outstanding achievement.
But when you consider that on average, Keane has been winning 71.4% of his defensive duels this season it shows how much of an improvement the 27-year-old made against the Clarets.
Keane also won 86% of his aerial duels at Turf Moor which is an improvement on the 66% of aerial duels he has averagely won per 90 minutes this season.
The defender also made eight interceptions against Burnley as he successfully broke down multiple attacks from Sean Dyche’s side and helped to secure his side a point.
On average this season, Keane has been making five interceptions per game so this is another area in which he improved on Saturday.
He also made three clearances which is a slight improvement on the 2.18 clearances Keane has been averaging per 90 minutes in the Premier League this season.
Keane also registered a 91% passing accuracy which is fairly impressive for a defender as he resisted the urge to kick the ball long and away from danger instead preferring to accurately find a teammate.
Overall, 80% of Keane’s total actions against Burnley were successful which is a marked improvement on the 59% of his actions that were successful in his previous game against Leeds.
Keane has been brilliant this season and Toffees fans will be hoping that his form continues as the club face a battle to turn their fortunes around.
In other Everton news, a new report has given the Toffees a major boost over Lucas Digne’s injury woes.
