‘It depends who turns up’ – Exclusive: Kevin Campbell predicts Everton v Leicester

We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…

Kevin Campbell has tipped Everton to collect all three points when they take on Leicester City on Wednesday night.

Coming off the back of their impressive 1-0 win against Chelsea last weekend, Campbell believes that the Toffees will win 2-1 at the King Power Stadium.

The former Everton captain admitted that the Foxes are a good side but he believes that the Toffees will beat them at their own game.

Speaking to Goodison News, Campbell said, “It’s a very difficult game, Leicester are a good side. But Everton have beaten Leicester before and with these two teams, it depends who turns up on the day.

“Leicester could turn up and not be themselves, as could Everton. I’d like to think Everton can get something out of the game. I’m going to go for an Everton win, I’ve seen them win there previously. I’m going to go for a 2-1 Everton victory.

“Leicester could win, of course, they can because we know they’re a good side. I just think Everton will defend deep and catch them on the break as opposed to Leicester doing that.”

The Foxes have won their last two games at home in all competitions but Brendan Rodgers’ side have been fairly inconsistent this season.

Despite winning away at The Emirates and beating Leeds 4-1, they have lost at home to Fulham and lost back to back games against West Ham and Aston Villa.

As Campbell suggests, the result of the game will depend on which Leicester side shows up on Wednesday night and if they are in good form, will the Toffees be able to stop them from scoring?

Jamie Vardy is still the Foxes’ talisman and has 10 goals in his 11 league games this season.

Michael Keane had another terrific game against Chelsea last weekend as he kept both Timo Werner and Olivier Giroud quiet, he will have to perform a similar trick with Vardy if his side are to take anything from this week’s game.

In other Everton news, we believe that Carlo Ancelotti cannot afford to rest Dominic Calvert-Lewin over the festive period.
