Richarlison issues injury update following collision during Everton v Man Utd
Everton forward Richarlison has said that he is fine after he was subbed off in the second half of his side’s 2-0 cup loss to Manchester United.
The Toffees exited the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night as goals from Edinson Cavani and Anthony Martial proved to be the difference at Goodison Park.
In the second half, Richarlison got clattered by a mixture of Bruno Fernandes and Eric Bailly when challenging for the ball as Bailly’s waist smashed into the side of the Brazilian’s head.
Richarlison took to Twitter to explain his condition and said that the clash looked worse than it was.
He said, “To everyone who sent messages and is worried – I’m fine. It was more the fright and the image that was ugly.
“Bailly apologized to me later, and it’s all right. Something that happens in the game. Thank you for the affection and concern of you guys.”
The Toffees missed the chance to secure a spot in the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup as no one in blue could find a way past Dean Henderson in the United net.
This is a huge missed opportunity to end the wait for silverware at Goodison Park and many Toffees fans will be furious that the club couldn’t beat Man United with an almost full-strength team.
One of the few positives to come from the game is that Richarlison looks to be ok and ready to start against Sheffield United on Boxing Day.
Everton will be looking to win their fourth straight Premier League game and keep pace in their pursuit of a top-four finish.
The Blades are yet to win in the league this season but a trip to Bramall Lane could still prove to be tricky for Carlo Ancelotti and his side.
Hopefully, the Everton players want to put on a show as a reaction to Wednesday’s defeat so the Toffees faithful can enjoy their Christmas.
