Everton to offer Sami Khedira 18 month contract – report

Everton will offer Sami Khedira an 18-month contract if the Juventus midfielder will accept a pay cut, according to the Express

The Toffees have been linked with a move for Khedira since the summer and with the January transfer window now open it looks like the Juve midfielder is set to leave Turin.

Everton have a mini injury crisis in the midfield and Khedira presents a cheap option to bolster the Toffees’ ranks.

The Express also claim that Juventus are ‘desperate’ to get Khedira off their books as he is earning a substantial wage and not playing.

They also report that Khedira held talks with Everton in England this week as it looks almost certain that the 33-year-old will move to Goodison Park.

Offering Khedira an 18-month contract is a good move by Marcel Brands as if Khedira proves to be a failure then he won’t be at the club for long.

The deal also presents a very small outlay, with Khedira out of contract in the summer Everton should be able to secure his services for a nominal fee.

His wages could be a problem however as the Toffees won’t want to be shelling out on an astronomical weekly pay packet.

This transfer saga has dragged on for months so it will be good for Toffees fans to have some sort of resolution one way or the other.

Everton have had many injuries this season and Ancelotti may be expecting more before the end of the season, hence why he is looking to bolster his ranks.

Khedira will have to prove that he has the fitness to come straight into a Premier League top four fight after not playing since last season but if Carlo Ancelotti wants him, then there is a high chance Khedira will have a successful time on Merseyside.
