View: Everton must seize chance to make profit on Moise Kean
Everton should grasp the chance to make a profit on Moise Kean as Sky Sports claim PSG want to make his loan move permanent.
Kean has had a torrid time since he joined Everton for £27 million in the summer of 2019 scoring just two goals in 29 Premier League outings during his debut season.
The Italian was just a teenager when he moved to Goodison Park but he came with a high reputation after impressing while at Juventus.
He failed to adapt to the Premier League as he struggled to impose himself against solid defences and this wasn’t acceptable to Carlo Ancelotti when he arrived at the club.
Kean was given a chance to impress his new boss but he was unable to take it and he was sent on loan to PSG this summer where he has recovered some form.
The Italian has nine goals in 16 competitive appearances for PSG and according to Sky Sports, new boss Mauricio Pochettino wants to make Kean’s loan move permanent.
PSG are reportedly offering a deal worth £31million which would mean that Everton would be making a profit on a striker who never seemed to adapt to life at Goodison Park.
The Toffees have two choices, either keep Kean and hope he develops as, after all, he is still only 20.
Or, they could cut their losses, so to speak, but actually, they will make a profit on a player who has shown little to suggest that he can score goals in the Premier League on a regular basis.
Everton have to take the second option.
It is rare that clubs make a profit on players who have proved to be complete flops so the Toffees making a profit on a player who only has two league goals to his name after 31 appearances is a no brainer.
Football clubs are also facing a January window with no money to spend due to the coronavirus pandemic so a healthy cash injection would come as a welcome boost to everyone at Goodison Park.
There may be questions asked if Kean does go on to be a prolific striker for club and country but based on what we have seen from him in the Premier League, he will struggle to cut the mustard in a competitive league.
Marcel Brands and Ancelotti have a tough decision to make but really, it’s pretty straightforward.
Sell Kean before PSG change their mind.
