‘They can beat anyone’ – Exclusive: Campbell talks up Everton’s FA Cup chances

We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…

Kevin Campbell believes that Everton have to be thinking about winning trophies ahead of their FA Cup clash against Rotherham.

The Toffees haven’t won a trophy since 1995 and Carlo Ancelotti will be looking to end this silverware drought as soon as possible.

Ahead of this weekend’s FA Cup third-round tie against the Millers, Campbell has given his prediction and spoken on the importance of a good cup run.

Speaking to Goodison News, Campbell said, “I think having a good run in the cup is key.

“They’ve obviously done ok in the Carabao Cup and got beat by a good Manchester United side but Everton have to be thinking about winning trophies.

“They’ve got a good team and on their day they can beat anyone, they’ve proven that. It’s all about performing in each round.

“If you can perform in each round then Everton have a chance. I think Everton will beat Rotherham 3-1.”

The Toffees have already blown one chance to win silverware this season as they crashed out of the Carabao Cup following a 2-0 home loss to Manchester United.

This was bitterly disappointing as Everton didn’t really show up for that game so Ancelotti will be looking to get his side’s FA Cup campaign off to a good start this weekend.

Rotherham currently sit second bottom of the Championship and they should present no real challenge to Everton, even if Ancelotti elects to rotate his side.

A convincing win would send a message to the rest of the teams in the competition that says Everton mean business and they are coming for that famous old trophy.

It would also help to ease the disappointment of the recent league loss to West Ham in which, once again, the Toffees never really showed up.

Evertonians will all be hoping that their side is up for the cup on Saturday as Ancelotti looks to lead his side to glory.
