View: Everton interest in Kante+ shows new dimension to Ancelotti transfer strategy

Everton are interested in Moises Caicedo and his signing could be quite a coup with notable clubs also circling.

Caicedo, 19, is on the radar of the Toffees and an unspecified MLS club, report Extra.

However, Manchester United have also been heavily linked with the Independiente del Valle midfielder, who harbours big ambitions.

Sky Sports‘ Tim Vickery reports that Caicedo views N’Golo Kante as his role model, but the journalist believes he already offers more than the Frenchman.

“A year ago he was saying that (N’Golo) Kante of Chelsea is his role model but he is already more than that. He already offers more in the final third,” said Vickery.

“The fella Moises Caicedo is much more than promise, he is reality. He is the first player born in the 21st century to score a goal in South American World Cup qualifiers.”

Vickery describing the Ecuador international as ‘the genuine article’ is an exciting prospect for Everton, as are the images below.

From this position, Caicedo played a quick one-two with his striker before lashing the ball first-time into the bottom corner.

Caicedo is also happy to shoot from range and it makes him a real all-round prospect.

Change in approach?

Carlo Ancelotti has recruited well so far but he has mostly stuck to a tried-and-tested formula – signing players he has worked with before.

James Rodriguez and Allan are two such examples, and both are players with a lot of experience under their belt.

And while they didn’t offer Premier League know-how, the addition of Abdoulaye Doucoure addressed that issue.

The signing of Caicedo, therefore, would mark a considerable change from the Everton boss.

Caicedo may be raw and unproven but his recognition for the national team shows how highly he is thought of.

Added to that, a return of three interceptions per game and a passing accuracy of 92% (Wyscout) in 2020 show the balance in his game, and what he could bring to the Everton midfield.

Ancelotti can nurture his talent, too, and get the best out of him as he has done with Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

In other Everton news, The Athletic journalist Patrick Boyland has expressed doubt over a transfer move this month.
