'I can't see it' - Warnock shares update on Bolasie hunt amid Everton exit talk

Middlesbrough boss Neil Warnock hasn’t spoken to Everton attacker Yannick Bolasie for a month amid talk that the 31-year-old could leave this month.

Speaking at the end of December, quoted by Liverpool Echo, Warnock stated that Bolasie’s name had been mentioned in talks as Boro looked at recruiting a new winger.

Bolasie is surplus to requirements at Goodison Park but Warnock’s new comments cast doubt over whether the winger will leave Merseyside this month.

Warnock is quoted by Teeside Live as saying, “I’m still looking at wide players.

“I haven’t spoken to Yannick for a month so there’s nothing in that at the moment. I can’t see it happening without me speaking to him.”

Warnock and Bolasie have a relationship from when the two men were both at Crystal Palace and he could be an astute signing for the Championship club.

Bolasie’s time at Everton has been heavily hampered by injuries and he never quite hit the heights he managed at Selhurst Park.

It has been said for a while now that the club need to cut their losses and shift Bolasie as he is still earning a decent wage despite not being in contention to play.

Bolasie is a casualty of the old Everton and there is no room for him in the current regime.

Despite this, he always remained a popular figure and it is one of the great shames of the last few years that Bolasie couldn’t show Blues fans more of his skills in the Premier League.

Bolasie won’t be our player much longer but it would be beneficial for everyone if we could get rid of him this month.

Even if it saves the club a small amount of money it could go some way in aiding a loan move for a player later in the window.

In other Everton news, Kevin Campbell believes that the Blues may also have to let Jonjoe Kenny leave this month.
