Ancelotti believes injury stricken Gbamin still has a role to play at Everton
Carlo Ancelotti has hinted that Jean-Philippe Gbamin has a role to play at Everton despite the Italian never seeing the midfielder play live.
Gbamin is still sidelined with an injury that he picked up shortly after arriving at Goodison Park in the summer of 2019.
Ancelotti, who has never seen Gbamin play in the flesh, believes that the 25-year-old still has a Toffees future.
Ancelotti is quoted by the Liverpool Echo as saying, “I saw him not live but in videos.
“He is a modern midfielder, a powerful midfielder with quality, he can play in all the positions in midfield.
“He can be a box to box midfielder. He is a midfielder that I think every team needs for his characteristics.”
Gbamin only has 135 Blues minutes to his name with Evertonians still yet to witness the midfielder’s quality.
It is often easy to forget that Gbamin is even at Everton with the player missing so much football over the last 18 months but we hope this changes soon.
Having Gbamin back will be like having a new signing.
That phrase is said a lot in the footballing world but it has rarely been truer when it refers to Gbamin.
He only has two Toffees appearances to his name so really, he is still a new signing despite being at the club for a year and a half.
With the club not spending any money this January, Gbamin’s return could prove to be a timely boost going into the second half of the season.
Though there is no telling when he may come back.
