‘Foxes can beat anyone’ – Exclusive: Campbell predicts Everton v Leicester
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Kevin Campbell is backing Everton to beat Leicester when the Foxes travel to Goodison Park on Wednesday night.
Brendan Rodgers’ side are in brilliant form with many pundits tipping them to push for the Premier League title in the second half of the season.
Campbell believes that the Blues can beat the Foxes for a second time this season with Jamie Vardy’s absence key to a positive result.
Speaking to Goodison News, Campbell said, “Everton beat Leicester with Jamie Vardy at their place, they know what to expect.
“The fact that Vardy’s not there doesn’t mean you can take your eyes off or your foot off the gas.
“You’ve still got to play and defend and do the right things. Everton are in a good run of form of late and a win would be more than welcome.
“They know how to beat Leicester but the Foxes can beat anyone on their day. I’ve got a sneaky feeling about Everton. 2-1.”
Everton won at the King Power Stadium earlier this season as goals from Richarlison and Mason Holgate secured a vital win.
The onus will be on the Blues to back up that result with a home win against one of the league’s most impressive teams this season.
The Foxes are just two points off the top of the table as it stands thought that could change when Man City play West Brom on Tuesday.
Even if Pep Guardiola’s side moves to the summit there are plenty of people thinking that Leicester are genuine title contenders once again, especially following their dismantling of Chelsea last time out in the league.
Former Chelsea boss Frank Lampard admitted as much earlier this month as he is quoted by Sky Sports as saying Leicester are ‘for sure’ in with a shout of winning the league.
A loss to Leicester ultimately cost Lampard his job and Everton will have to be at their best to get something on Wednesday, even with the talismanic Vardy missing.
In other Everton news, Ancelotti has provided an injury update ahead of Wednesday’s clash.
