Sky Sports share significant update on Everton hunt for Zirkzee
Sky Sports reporter Max Bielefeld has provided an update on the hunt for Joshua Zirkzee with Parma and Everton the only potential destinations for the young forward.
The Bayern Munich striker has been heavily linked with a switch to Goodison Park this month and it seems that the German club now have a decision to make.
Everton have tabled a bid for the 19-year-old and the youngster is open to the move, according to Bielefeld.
However, Parma have reportedly also tabled the same bid with the option or obligation to buy Zirkzee when his loan expires.
It is a straight shootout between the Italian side and the Blues and with Zirkzee also open to a move to Serie A, the decision lies with Bayern.
If Bayern decide to send their young striker to Merseyside then it looks like there could be some transfer action for us this January after all.
We are in desperate need of a new striker with Cenk Tosun failing to provide adequate back up for Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Zirkzee could be the ideal understudy as a hungry young striker who can learn from one of the best coaches in the league as well as one of the best strikers.
It is hard to imagine Zirkzee demanding too much first-team action initially which is why a loan move followed by possible permanent deal could be ideal.
He can learn from DCL and take some of the burden off our star man, providing an actual option off the bench and allowing our top scorer to rest, something he hasn’t really been able to do this season.
If Zirkzee proves himself then he could be an astute signing and certainly one to watch in future.
We are all hoping that Bayern send him our way.
We should find out Zirkzee’s destination in the coming days with the transfer window close to slamming shut.
