CSKA Moscow to make offer for Everton striker Tosun – report

CSKA Moscow are set to make an offer to sign out-of-favour Everton striker Cenk Tosun, according to Championat.

The Russian news outlet claims Everton are ready to get rid of the 29-year-old Turkey international, who has started just one game in all competitions for the Blues this season.

It is understood that although CSKA usually buy younger players with resale value, they could move to sign Tosun from Everton with Argentine striker Adolfo Gaich potentially leaving the Russian capital.

Get rid – ASAP

It’s been easy to forget about all the bad and incorrect decisions made at Everton in recent years with Carlo Ancelotti’s men currently performing well in the Premier League.

But remnants of those ill-thought decisions remain at Goodison Park and Tosun is one of them.

In January 2018, the Toffees paid £27million to sign Tosun from Besiktas but since then, the Turkey striker has scored just 11 goals in 58 appearances across all competitions for the Merseyside club.

He’s barely getting any game-time and with him being in the final 18 months of his contract, it could be wise for us to sell up now and cut our losses.

CSKA could offer a decent sum of money for Tosun as in June 2019, they paid £14million to sign Nikola Vlasic from us.

While Vlasic is younger and does fit in with the Russian club’s approach to signing young players with resale value, Tosun is someone who is a proven goalscorer in the mid-tier European leagues like Turkey.

Tosun scored 80 times in 205 Turkish Super Lig appearances for Besiktas and Gaziantepspor and the Turkish league is perhaps not far off the quality of the Russian top-flight.

It could be a good move for the 29-year-old, who has simply struggled to meet requirements in the Premier League with only 10 goals in England’s top-flight in three years.

In other Everton news, the Blues are plotting a surprise move for Christian Eriksen.
