View: Everton loanee Ellis Simms sparkles in 25-minute cameo in 5-0 Blackpool win
Everton under-23s hotshot Ellis Simms was sent out on loan to League One Blackpool last week by Carlo Ancelotti.
The young striker instantly made his debut against Premier League opposition in the FA Cup, as the Tangerines lost 2-1 at Brighton.
It was back to league action on Tuesday evening, and Simms couldn’t have wished for a better start against Wigan.
Simms was initially named on the bench by Blackpool, but that didn’t deter him.
Coming on to the pitch with only 25 minutes to play, the 20-year-old certainly made the most of his time in the Lancashire derby.
The striker was phenomenal, with all three of his shots hitting the target with two of those finding the back of the net at the DW Stadium.

According to WyScout, Simms was only expected to score 0.99 times, but he managed to double that with his phenomenal finishing.
Both goals were headed with ease, with Simms proving he has the physicality needed to create space for himself in the final third.
The first goal showed great bravery, as he beat both the defender and the goalkeeper to a flick-on and then showing the composure to nod the second-ball home.
His cameo was completed when holding off a defender from a late corner to nod home the fifth and seal the perfect evening for Blackpool.
This is Simms’ first loan spell away from Goodison Park, and long may this start continue.
Ancelotti will be keeping a close eye on the 20-year-old, with the likes of Cenk Tosun offering no real competition to Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Even in League One, an incredible end to the season could see Simms stake his claim for a spot on the bench in the Premier League – time will tell.
