‘No chance’ – Romano shares update on Everton’s reported Perisic hunt

Everton have been handed a blow in their reported pursuit of Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano

Earlier on deadline day, Football Insider reported that the Blues were targeting Perisic as a potential replacement for Bernard who could leave Goodison Park today.

However, Romano has relayed quotes from Inter Milan’s CEO and it does not make for good reading if you wanted Perisic to become an Evertonian.

On Monday, he tweeted, “There’s no chance for Ivan Perisic to Everton, Inter CEO Marotta announced: “We’re not selling or buying any player today.”

This rumoured interest seems to have disappeared as quickly as it appeared this morning but if the reports about Bernard are to be believed then the club may switch its efforts elsewhere.

Perisic, 31, looks like a quick fix from Carlo Ancelotti to tide us over until we can target a proper replacement in the summer.

The Blues are yet to bring any new faces to Goodison Park this month though many hope the club can bring in another attacker with Cenk Tosun joining Besiktas on loan.

There is very little time left to make a deal happen this month and there is a real chance that the club is left short of attackers for the remainder of the season.

This is far from ideal with us targeting a strong cup run and a top-four spot.

It has been said numerous times by ourselves that not having a back up for Dominic Calvert-Lewin would be an incredibly poor move by the club.

There is now a very real chance that this will be the case with time rapidly running out to sign a Tosun replacement.

We know the club tried to bring in another attacker in Bayern’s Joshua Zirkzee but he has instead moved to Parma.

We hope that attacking back up will be brought in today but it is looking unlikely at this stage.
