View: Three things to look out for as Everton face Manchester United

Everton travel to Old Trafford on Saturday evening to face off with title challengers Manchester United.

The Toffees have won four of their seven games so far in 2021. They’ll be looking to build on the midweek 2-1 win at Elland Road over Leeds and push further up the table.

As for the hosts, they won 9-0, yes nine, at home to Southampton in the week. A win is crucial for them if they’re to keep up with leaders Manchester City.

With that in mind, Goodison News have picked out three things to look out for in the match tomorrow.

Calvert-Lewin back in the goals

The number nine ended a baron run of seven games without a goal by bagging at Elland Road. It was his twelfth in the Premier League this season, three behind the golden boot leader Mo Salah.

When the sides met in November, Calvert-Lewin was limited to just one shot on goal. It was only the second time in Everton’s opening nine league games he’d failed to get on the scoresheet.

The England international will be relishing the challenge against his England teammate, Harry Maguire. We fancy him to score in back to back games.

Digne deliveries

A big reason why we back Calvert-Lewin to score is the return of Lucas Digne.

The Frenchman has been missing for most of December and January but came back into the side against Wolves. He looked back to his best against Leeds, picking up his sixth assist of the season.

He’s averaged 6.28 crosses per 90 mins this season, with a 35% success rate [Wyscout]. His return is a big bonus.

Bruno and co knocking on the door

Probably a given seeing as they won 9-0 in the week, but this United team will come with confidence in front of goal.

Bruno Fernandes, in particular, has had 75 attempts on goal in the Premier League, the most this season. He’ll be very keen to test back up keeper, Robin Olsen, and improve on his twelve goals thus far.

United are the highest-scoring team in the league with 46, whilst Everton haven’t kept a clean sheet in 2021. Chances of this being the first are slim.

In other Everton news, here’s a big injury boost for the squad as the Toffees push for Europe.
