View: Premier League form of Richarlison becoming big Everton worry
The Premier League form of Richarlison is starting to become a real worry for Everton and Carlo Ancelotti this season.
The Brazilian has only scored a couple of goals and three assists, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin outperforming him massively.
Ancelotti has previously claimed that Richarlison could win the Ballon d’Or, but on this form, he’ll be struggling to win the Player of the Month award.
What has happened?
The 23-year-old has failed to score or assist in the past seven Premier League outings, although there has been some tough fixtures in that run.
It would be an easy way out to claim that his injury had a massive effect on how he has been playing, but it can’t have been easy for the South American.
Ancelotti has recently been playing on the left-hand side, and would be much better playing down the middle alongside Calvert-Lewin.
Playing out-wide has limited Richarlison’s clear-cut chances, and that is highlighted in the fact that he has only managed one shot on target in his past seven outings [WyScout].
Looking at the opening goal against Manchester United, Richarlison was hugging the touchline rather than being in the thick of the action.
That shot from Calvert-Lewin eventually was tapped home by Abdoulaye Doucoure, but those are the areas that Richarlison could and should be in.
With European football a massive possibility this season, the Toffees need all of their best players to step up and make it a certainty.
Richarlison has proved he has what it takes to be a massive success in the Premier League, but he needs to start finding more consistency to help the team.
Ancelotti is a big fan, but he must start warranting that trust with more goals.
