Exclusive: Campbell assesses Lookman’s Goodison return, predicts Everton v Fulham
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Kevin Campbell claims that Ademola Lookman will want to have a ‘blinder’ against former club Everton when the Blues face Fulham this weekend.
Lookman signed for Everton in 2017 and scored on his debut as a late substitute in a famous 4-0 win over Manchester City.
He now turns out for Fulham after joining the London club on loan from German outfit RB Leipzig and Campbell insists he will want to impress this weekend while backing the Blues to pick up a much-needed league win.
Speaking to Goodison News, Campbell said, “He joined Everton and was expecting to get a lot more game time.
“That didn’t quite materialise, he took time to settle in. He’s a young man and you’ve got to look at stuff like that.
“He was hungry to play and he went abroad to get game time. It’s part and parcel of a player’s career and it didn’t quite work out at Everton although the fans liked him because he brought something to the team.
“You always want to do well against your old team and Everton are going to want to win that game, Lookman is going to want to have a blinder on the day so it should be a good spectacle. 3-1 Everton.”
The 23-year-old has had mixed bag this season while aiding Fulham’s fight against an immediate return to the Championship.
Lookman has three goals and three assists to his name this term but he made headlines for all the wrong reasons earlier this season.
His last-minute chipped penalty against West Ham went viral as he completely fluffed his lines and provided Lukasz Fabianski with an easy catch as he cost his team a vital win.
At this moment it looked as if the Blues had played a blinder in letting the attacker move to Germany but he has shown promising signs at times this season.
He is one of Fulham’s best attacking outlets and he will need to be dealt with if he starts at Goodison on Sunday.
