Everton willing to pay £26.2m Adrien Rabiot fee – report

Everton are ready to make a summer move for Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot and will not be put off by his £26.2million price tag, according to Stadio Sport.

Rabiot has made 18 Serie A appearances for the Old Lady this season and started their last four matches but his inconsistent displays since moving on a free from PSG in 2019 have seen him linked with a move away.

It is not the first time he has been linked with a move to Merseyside to join his former manager Carlo Ancelotti who handed him his professional debut.

The Blues boss is said to be keen on a reunion with the 25-year-old as Italian outlet Stadio Sport report that Everton are “ready to do anything to please” Ancelotti and that means meeting the valuation set by Juventus.

Andrea Pirlo’s side are apparently “taking into consideration” the offer received from Everton and view him as a player that is “not impossible” to sell.

His wages could be a problem, however, with the French midfielder currently earning £6.5million per season and that would make him the highest earner at Everton over current top earners Bernard and Yerry Mina who are on £6.2million [spotrac].

Sprinkling of stardust

If there is one position Everton are not lacking in it is the central midfielder area.

The club made waves last summer by bringing in Abdoulaye Doucoure from Watford and Allan from Napoli for big sums while already containing the likes of Tom Davies, Andre Gomes, Fabian Delph and Jean-Philippe Gbamin on the Blues books.

However the latter two are injury prone and have made just five Premier League appearances between them this season while Gomes, Doucoure and Allan will all be at least 28 by the beginning of next season.

Therefore the chance to bring in an established international who has played for two of the biggest clubs in Europe could be too hard to turn down, particularly if Ancelotti really is set on a Rabiot reunion.

With European football potentially on the cards next season the Blues may have to push the boat out and make moves for a higher-calibre of players so this is a deal that could certainly make sense for all parties.
